bicycle seat is the best type of seat for pedalling. The challenge was
to design a frame to steady and support the rider who is sitting on a
normal cycle seat. The alternative to our body support is to use a bucket

so much of the seat must be removed that the seat becomes weak and unsafe.

For some physical disabilities, this unit is a must but probably the most
dramatic gains have been with some people with intellectual disabilities.
The `armchair' effect gives them the confidence and security. This unit
is easily adjustable (vertically and horizontally) to fit any person and
is fitted with seat and chest belts, and front plate. 2118)
Quick Adjustable Bars & Stem The
angle and the height of the handle bars can be altered within seconds.
Very useful when a number of people are using the cycle particularly when
a back rest or body support is being used.
2119)
Adjustable Pedal Arms Leg
movement is one of the big benefits from cycling. Some people have
limited movement so this is where the adjustable pedal arms come in by
fitting the pedals close to the Axle Center, The circle is small, the
bend in the knee is slight and by moving the pedal further from the center
the circle is bigger which makes knee bends more. You could have
one side with the pedal right out in the normal pedal position while the
other side is in a different position and can be moved as the condition
improves. 2160)
Foot Leveler. Some children
with Cerebral Palsy tend to walk on their toes and will try to do the
same while pedaling a bike. The foot leveler stops this and they have
to pedal with a more flat foot. Can
be used with any tricycle. Easily removable. With a 12" or 16"
tricycle this unit can be used as a steering bar by pushing down on the
bar the front wheel can be lifted off the ground allowing the trike to
be turned left or right easily by the carer. 2117T)
THREE: Dual Steering Systems ("T" Steering) The
teacher/carer can walk behind the cycle and steer it from the back. He/she
has a straight back and is in complete control. This position puts the
pupil and the forward view of the teacher/carer in the same line of vision.
The alternate position has the teacher leaning over the cycle, trying
to push it, steer it at the same time, looking at the child, and in front
of the trike while trying to prevent the back wheels from going over their
feet. A very trying affair. This new concept allows for longer teaching
periods as the teacher is comfortable. Designed originally as a teaching
aid the Dual Steering Systems have allowed many more people to be able
to enjoy cycling. For example an adult in Shepparton (Victoria), who has
difficulty walking and is blind was able to continue cycling (which he
loves) by having the carer walk behind, and take over the steering when
necessary. 2115)
Handlebar Steering System
ANY Tricycles or cycles with outriggers (large superior training
wheels). Attaches to the handlebars then goes over the riders head. The
bar is easily removable when not needed. Adjustable and transferable to
another cycle of similar size. 2200)
Balance Bar This
is a very useful tool when a person wants to progress from a cycle with
outriggers to a two wheeler. The bar is high so that the teacher/parent
walks (with a straight back) behind the cycle and gives support and balance
when needed. The high bar also gives greater leverage so that less effort
is needed to accomplish the task. 2011S)
SADDLE SEAT These
have proven to be popular, keeping the rider positioned central in the
seat. The width of the seat keeps the legs apart at the top helping to
stop knees from crossing. The seat gives more stability often making it
unnecessary to use a back rest. This seat is standard on a rabbit but
is also available on 16", and 20" bmx tricycles, as well as
20" adult tricycles. 2011T)

The Towing System For
much the Towing system will be the answer to getting more people riding.
It turns any fixed wheel tricycle into a pedaled trailer. The
controlling bike can be a bicycle or any tricycle and can be ridden by
a carrer or more able bodied /disabled person. The
tricycle / trailer bike gets the full riding experience without having
to control their bike and has the close companionship of the other rider. An
example: Trikes could be joined and ridden to the park, where the towing
bar is easily removed so that two bikes can be ridden independently, rejoined
and safely ridden home. For
